CHORAL MUSIC SCHEDULE 2003
All music is for Solemn Mass on Sundays at 11:00, unless otherwise noted. The choir of the Church of Saint Mary the Virgin is a small professional ensemble that sings first-rate music appropriate to the liturgy. At each Solemn Mass, the minor propers of the Mass are sung to plainsong in the original Latin. The choir, in its role as a servant of the liturgical assembly, sings a setting of the Mass ordinary, and an anthem or motet during Communion. The choir’s repertoire of Masses and motets stretches from the Middle Ages to works by living composers. It is wonderful that this music is heard in a liturgical context, and in a spectacular acoustic, which is not unlike many of the great churches of Europe for which much of this great music was written. Solemn Mass also features great organ works as preludes and postludes, played on our famed click here
