Saturday Evening Vigil Mass 5:20 PM

This is the first "Sunday Mass."  This is a said Eucharist and always includes a sermon.  Like all Masses at Saint Mary's, it is celebrated at the high altar and people are invited to sit in the chancel or in the nave. The service lasts about 40 minutes.

 

 

 

Morning Prayer 8:30 AM 

All are invited to sit in the chancel of the church with the parish clergy and sisters, near the high altar.  This is the daily morning service of the Church.  The service includes the recitation of psalms, readings from the Bible and prayers to begin the day.  During the academic year, Morning Prayer is sung to simple plainsong chant.  The service is also called "Matins."  The service lasts about 20 minutes when it is said, 25 when it is sung.

Mass 9:00 AM & 10:00 AM

This is a said Eucharist and always includes a sermon.  All Masses are celebrated at the high altar. Coffee is served in the parish hall following all Sunday morning Masses.  The service lasts about 40 minutes.


 

 

 

 

Sunday School for Children
& Adult Christian Education 10:00 AM - 10:45 AM

Sunday School for Children and Adult Christian Education classes are offered during the academic year. Sunday School for children is led by Deacon Rebecca Weiner Tompkins. Classes for adults are held in the Mission House.  Sunday School and Adult Christian Education classes do not meet during the summer months.

Solemn Mass 11:00 AM
This is a the full, traditional Sunday service of the Church. During the academic year, the parish choir sings. During the summer months, soloists or small ensembles lead the music.  The service lasts approximately 75 minutes.  A reception follows in the parish hall.

Solemn Evensong & Benediction 5:00 PM

Evening Prayer is sung on Sundays from the first Sunday in October through Trinity Sunday in the spring.  When Evening Prayer is sung it is called Evensong.  At Saint Mary's, a sermon is preached at Sunday Evensong and concludes with Eucharistic devotions.  A reception follows in the parish hall.   
 
During the summer months Solemn Evensong & Benediction is replaced with Evening Prayer
at 5:00 PM.

 

Monday through Friday

Morning Prayer 8:30 AM

The service includes the recitation of psalms, readings from the Bible and prayers to begin the day.  The service is also called "Matins."  The service lasts about 20 minutes when it is said.  On the greater festivals of the Church year, the service is sung and lasts 25 minutes.

 

Noonday Office 12:00 PM 

This is a daily service of prayers, psalms and a reading led by the clergy but said by all.  The readings are almost always from the writings of the Church's doctors and theologians.  It lasts approximately 10 minutes.

 

Mass 12:10 PM 

Most days this is a said Mass with a brief homily.  All Masses are celebrated at the high altar.  All are welcome to sit in the chancel near the altar or in the nave. These Masses last between 25 and 30 minutes.  The 12:10 Mass on Wednesday is sung and lasts about 35 minutes.  On Thursdays, the Anointing of the Sick is offered at the 12:10 Mass for those who wish to receive it.

Evening Prayer 6:00 PM

This is the daily evening service of the Church.  All are invited to sit in the chancel of the church with the parish clergy and sisters, near the high altar.  The service includes the recitation of psalms, readings from the Bible and prayers to begin the day.  The service lasts about 20 minutes.
 
On the eves of the greater festivals of the Church year, Evening Prayer is solemnly sung.  This service lasts about forty minutes. 
 

Holy Days 6:00 PM

Please see the monthly or weekly worship schedule for the services on Major Feasts, Principal Feasts, and Other Feasts of Our Lord.  An additional Said Mass, Sung Mass or Solemn Mass, depending on the rank of the day, will be offered.

 

Saturdays 

Confessions 11:30 AM & 4:00 PM

Confessions are heard by the priest on duty either in the confessional or in one of the chapels.  The service begins in the Prayer Book on page 447.
